untitled installation using mirrors, computer controlled motor, laser and 4 channel synthetic sound.

this was shown as part of the 'listen up' exhibition in sheffield 2011. at the centre of the work a mirror is mounted at 45 degrees onto a motor. around the perimeter of the space are mirrors. as the motor turns different patterns are created within the space. the motor's speed is controlled by a computer, which also generates a four channel shepard tone. the rate of ascension and rotation are linked: when the motor turns quickly, the shepard tone rises quickly; when the motor stops the shepard tone freezes. the motor and control system were developed by paul and ben at leeds met experimental media unit.
